Drums

I play a Premier Genista 7-Piece Kit from 1994! It’s a beauty. Birch 7-ply shells, and 45 degree bearing edges for enhanced resonance!

Snare Drum

My pride and joy!

I am now an ambassador for Bullhead Drums!

Matt - the genius behind the company - made me a special Neil Peart-inspired snare drum for my setup, which is a 14”x5.5” (inspired by Neil’s “Old Faithful” snare drum), which is made of mahogany, oak and maple staves.

There are custom badges around the shell, which I chose, showcasing my favourite albums, and also two badges related to me! One is an MP badge (for Moving Pictures) and the other is a JD badge (my initials)!

So, I call it: the “Bullhead Drums Neil Peart JD Special Custom Snare”! Rolls off the tongue.

All Sabian!

Miscellaneous

I replaced my Roland Octapad with a Roland SPD SX Sampler! More mad noises incoming.

I have various percussion, such as Meinl cowbells, Sabian triangle, and LP windchimes.

I play Meinl drumsticks: El Estepario Siberiano, Heavy 5Bs, and Standard Long 5As, depending on my mood! I was playing the Neil Peart Shira Kashi Oak sticks, which I loved the feel of, but they started to give me Carpal Tunnel symptoms, which I think was caused by the vibrations from the solid oak. It’s a real shame, because they were very very durable!
