About Me

I’m Jamie, a Scottish drummer with a lifelong passion for rhythm, inspired by the legendary Neil Peart and the music of Rush.

I started drumming at 13, inspired by my dad, who is also a drummer. While studying Popular Music at Edinburgh Napier University, I discovered Rush when I played their music for my best friend’s performance exam - an experience that shaped my musical direction. Thank you Marieme!! ❤️

Over the years, I’ve played in a variety of musical settings, including wedding bands and original projects, most notably, an electronic band called May He Go.

Since January 2023, I gave up my job in the fitness industry to tour full-time with Moving Pictures - a Rush tribute band, bringing their wonderful music to audiences worldwide! Our performances have taken us across Brazil, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, and beyond. One of the greatest honors of my career was when Neil Peart’s sisters invited us to perform at Lakeside Park, a moment that truly affirmed our deep connection to Rush’s legacy. And they’re the loveliest people!

Alongside Professor Peart, my drumming influences include: John Bonham, Thomas Lang, Matt Garstka, Pierre van der Linden, Eloy Casagrande, Anika Nilles, Adam Betts and Christin Neddens!

Beyond performing, I’ve been teaching drums since 2013, helping students of all levels develop their skills and confidence. Having personally battled with anxiety and confidence issues, I understand how intimidating learning an instrument can be. Because of this, I take pride in creating a comfortable and supportive learning environment, especially for shy or nervous students. I absolutely adore teaching!

I will soon be releasing a drumming course inspired by Neil Peart’s playing, focusing on the techniques, creativity, and precision that made him one of the greatest drummers of all time. Whether you’re looking to expand your skills or gain deeper insight into Peart’s approach, this course is designed to help drummers of all levels push their limits.

I have experience recording in the studio, including at Rockfield Studios, where Rush recorded A Farewell to Kings and Hemispheres - a surreal and inspiring experience that deepened my connection to their music.

Drumming is a physically demanding art, and I strongly believe that fitness plays a crucial role in endurance, control, and injury prevention. Alongside drumming, I’ve been a yoga teacher for 10 years, using movement, breathwork, and mindfulness to improve flexibility, strength, and focus - key elements for any drummer. I incorporate these principles into my playing and teaching, helping drummers develop both their physical and mental stamina behind the kit.
